Establish an identity and repeat it. Repetition is important because associations work below the surface, behind customers' eyes. Somewhere prior to cognition awareness connects things with other things.
Logos.
Logos can be familiar touchstones. They recall images, impressions and messages. Thus, logos matter. They're bookmarks. Reminders.
Style.
